Take this Waltz is a cross-generation exchange project, a urban site-specific event that develops from the idea of folk dance as a cultural rite, as a form of meeting, sharing and keeping memory.
The first step has been the encouter with the folk dancing community of Arci Corvetto (Milan) and the traditional ballo ambrosiano (a Milanese folk dance)which, after the present generation of elderly dancers, is at risk of extinction.
The challenge of the proposal is to trigger a dialogue among different generations, an exchange of gestures and rhythms that speaks about man, his ages and his sense of belonging.
Take this Waltz is an open-air ballroom with live music, where elderly experts perform in all their splendour and poetry, teaching their steps to those young willing to be involved in the square.
